Lincoln Home National Historic Site
On my way home from St. Louis, I decided to swing by Springfield, Illinois to visit the Lincoln Home National Historic Site.
The Cook House
is a two-story wood frame Greek Revival home that has clapboard siding, cornerboards, gables, a dormer, a side porch and a hip roof.

- Resolution Distillation
- I’ve never been enthusiastic about writing New Year’s resolutions so we’ll see how this goes. Let me say at the start that I’m not going to be all militant about writing them.
- Woodcut at the Garden
- The weather today can only be described as wall-to-wall ICK with an occasional outbreak of YUCK and BLECH. The temperature climbed into the forties but it felt more like the twenties.
- Geevor Tin Mine
- At one point the trail disappears onto an exposed stretch of granite. I continue to walk for few minutes across the rock and come to the other side. The giant slab ends at a steep drop-off. The slope below is thick with trees.
